As a member of the Northville School Board, I would focus on the following three chief pursuits:
NAVIGATING THROUGH THE COVID-19 CRISIS TOGETHER
UNWAVERING FOCUS ON STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH, HAPPINESS, AND INCLUSION
First, navigating through the Covid-19 crisis together--as a community, with common sense and levelheadedness--putting the safety of students, teachers, and families first--without politicizing the issues.
Second, we need to have unwavering focus on student mental health, happiness and inclusion. I know well the profound effects that mental health issues and stresses can have on kids, on families, and I am here to make sure we don't lose sight of that. Our district's vision statement is currently focused on advancing our tradition of excellence and opening a world of possibilities for our kids, but I would revamp our vision and focus to include the goal of providing for a happy, healthy, and inclusive environment for our students.
Third, I believe strongly in continuous improvement--we can build on our tradition of excellence, and extend the opportunity for improvement across the district and to each and every individual student, and I would start by driving a greater awareness across our district regarding the significant financial constraints that we face. That kind of awareness, across our entire district, could generate increased understanding and engagement by families and our community.
